Congregate Treatment Program

Congregate Treatment Residence (sometimes referred to as halfway houses) are time-limited services that offers men and women 24-hour staff support and supervision. Search for Change has 49 Congregate Treatment beds in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

In this 24-hour supervised halfway house setting, clients develop goal plans based on the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation. Skill training is provided in areas such as Medication Management, Daily Living, Assertiveness and Self-Advocacy, Skill Development, Substance Abuse Relapse Prevention, Community Integration, and other areas depending on individual needs. The program is highly structured with an emphasis on building an increased level of independent living.

Residents in this setting are offered spacious living arrangements with shared bedrooms. The units are run similar to familial houses with a set dinner time and curfew. Residents are supported in their recovery and allowed to develop their own sense of independence.

Eligibility for placement from support of Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability, and/or Medicaid. Applicants ineligible for those entitlements will be charged a private pay rate.
