Our Vocational Services include two models designed to fit one's individual needs. Our QUIP model offered in White Plains, NY and Norwalk, CT provides clients with the latest computer and office technology and assists them in acquiring the skills needed to be competitive in today's office environment. Career Quest, available in Brewster and Jefferson Valley, NY is designed for individuals seeking employment in fields other than clerical. Competent staff is always available to assist individuals in making career choices, attaining the skills needed to secure employment, job development and career maintenance. Our development of positive employer relationships within the community has resulted in diverse job placements with increased retention and client satisfaction.

Funding and support of our vocational services is provided through VESID. Private pay rates are available.

Vocational Evaluation

An individualized process of exploring one's career interests, skills and abilities, to assist individuals in establishing an employment goal and a plan from which those goals can be achieved. Clients participate in career development and exploration exercises, situational assessments and informational interviews to aid in the development of employment goals. These exercises and experiences are then used to plan the types of services needed to reach an individual's goal.

Career Exploration

Designed for individuals who are unsure of their vocational interests or have had little or no work experience, Career Exploration enables participants to learn more about various employment options through informational interviews, job shadowing and internship opportunities.

Computer Training

Capacity of 10 per class per location

Participants are trained in the specific basic or advanced level software applications that will be required in the job of their choice. Available applications include Windows, Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and are taught a variety of desktop publishing and graphics programs. (Available in Norwalk and White Plains only.)

Clerical Training

Clients participate in exercises to gain exposure to general office skills such as business writing, use of office equipment, telephone etiquette and other general business practices that help build marketable experience.

Job Seeking Skills

Resume writing, interviewing skills, job application completion, and methods of seeking employment are taught to participants who are ready to work. Mock interviews are conducted offering practice and a critique of their overall presentation.

Job Placement and Retention

Job placement services provide participants with solid job leads, interview assistance and support. Connections with area employers facilitate the job placement for participants in both disclosed and non-disclosed job acquisition situations. Job coaching and intensive support services are available to individuals starting a new job. Methods and strategies for sustaining employment are also taught to increase job retention.

Career Development

Long term support, is offered to encourage promotions and job or career change.
